About to reply to this interesting conversation--she wanted to know what a "rooster" was, so many chickens were mentioning them!--something caught her attention. By the water stood another chicken, with black feathers emphasized by silver bleached around their edges. There was a look of authority about her movements, but Silver knew at once that it was Moonstar. "I'll be right back," she said apologetically to her two new friends, and quickly strode over to the hen, across the soft, grassy soil to the waterside.

"Hi," Silver said nervously, lowering her head in what she hoped was a respectful position, minus the crown that would not stop flopping around. "My name is Silver. I was brought here by your medicine hen. I've been looking for you to ask if . . . if," she swallowed. "If I can join WingClan." Quickly, she added. "I'll do my best! I know nothing of living in the wild, but I want to learn. There's a lot I want to know about this place where chickens do not live in metal dens. Can I join?"
