Star? It was a name Silver did not know. But the way Icegem had spoken proved that she valued this chicken very dearly. Sighing, Silver re-adjusted the moss so that it would prevent the injured hen from getting chilled, and plodded out the entrance of the den, resolving not to be nosy and ask about Icegem's past until she was ready.

Seeing no other chickens around, Silver settled herself under the shade of a tree by the wriggling pool and stared about the camp, at the leader's den, the warrior perches, and the huge, ancient rock from which she was yet to hear any clan announcements made. Absentmindedly she kneaded the sun-baked earth beneath her clawed feet, immersed in thoughts of how she had come to be here. Moreover, how she came to be so lucky, while her chick-hood friends lay in metal dens living an existence of eggs and food. It made Silver guilty to think that she had come to see all this, to know that there was something more, and yet her fellow factory hens were left to see no more of existence than the four sides of their metal homes.

DeltaFlight was sitting by herself in her tree. Her son was still out looking for her daughter, who Delta swore[/] she'd caught sight of the previous day but had vanished again... lo and behold! What was that?! Delta's eyes opened wide as she followed a bright, sparkling shape through the crisp morning air as it circled around her head. She coughed, and whatever it was dithered a bit but remained close to her.

"Hello..." Delta said.
I didn't reply, but hovered steadily above her head.

She went back to thinking about things such as her children. Where had her other daughter gone? The one who'd been bred back in the metal coop, the egg which had been shipped off in the 'special' carton. It was a miracle she and Arlanda had found each other again, or they may never have known there was other family out there. Where was she now? Delta made a firm resolution to try harder to keep in contact.

How you doin'?

Yes, I heard, Gerbil's been meaning to step down for ages, so I guess it's finally happening. She should still stick around though, maybe it'll go back to how she was before - Moonscar.

I'm not too bad myself. Everyone here goes on facebook at lunch, and there's gossip floating towards me from all four directions.
