[ʀᴇꜱᴏʟᴠᴇᴅ] Hen suddenly falling asleep while standing, droopy tail! | 𝘌𝘥𝘪𝘵: 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘮 𝘉𝘭𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘢𝘨𝘦

If you think she could be egg bound put her in a warm water bath. I add Empson Salt when I do this. You can also add some dawn dishwashing liquid. It has to be Dawn. Nothing else. A warm bath sometimes helps them to pass the egg. I have even had to squirt a little mineral oil into their vents to help them pass an egg. But only do that if you have to. I have had both methods work. You may have to give her more than one warm water bath. There are many videos on youtube on how to treat an egg bound hen. Good Luck! Let me know how it turns out.

Hopefully an egg did not break inside of her. If so it can get infected. The one time I had to use mineral oil, my chicken passed a big broken shell. I think the mineral oil helped her to pass the rest of it, because there was sticky liquid in the hay the next morning. Luckily, she never got ill. After she passed the egg, she was fine.

Ma'am, thank you for the advice, but unfortunately this isn't the issue we are likely dealing with. You are welcome to go back and read our earlier posts about how we came to the diagnosis, what we are doing to help them, and updates about how they are feeling.

If you are still really scared and don't mind spending the money, you can take her to a vet that takes care of birds.

Elsie (the lavender orpington) just pooped almost entirely water with a little bit of urates and some small green pellet shaped poo (I couldn't get a photo cause it leaked everywhere). It was very eggy and amonia smelling.
We had been able to give the whole molasses solution about an hour ago.
She ate almost a whole egg with coconut oil, sugar and salt in it.

Maisie pooped one more time. She's swinging. One moment, she'll walk around and her eyes are open, next she's soundly sleeping. I can watch her comb go from red to pale in a matter of moments.

Sadie has not pooped again. She is the worst currently. Her crop still has not drained any of the liquid and she has not perked up at all. She can barely stay awake.

Edit to add: A lot of the hens had fairly empty crops when we checked them all. It seems they are all not feeling the best.
We worked hard to give them all the molasses flush but some of them we weren't able to give successfully.

Our rooster, Alek is now inside as well. He is doing pretty bad now too. All three girls are sleeping on my lap and Alek is sleeping on Tiff's lap.
Thanks everyone for all your help today. I know y'all put a lot of time and effort into helping us. Even if they don't get better, we know we did everything we could. Thanks to everyone that helped us so much. We couldn't have done this without y'all. 💗

Oh no, I’m so sorry ☹️
Sending prayers for you and Tiffany and your beautiful birds.
