it's time for a different job!

lots of places do that for janitorial work. They give you an amount of work to do and say you have to finish this work and we will pay you so much regardless how long it takes you. I was making regularly $1.50 less than min wage cleaning the post office in SK if I had to shovel snow it dropped to less than half min. wage. It was pretty rough. I had that job for 3 years.

It's not mandatory. I'm getting $8 an hour for part time right now. So if I just stick with that, I'll be making more at 24hrs a week than I would doing 40hrs a week with the FAFSA thing.
Only thing is, I don't know if they'll work me during the summer without it.

I'm pretty sure it means you'll still get min wage, but the Fed. Govt. will be paying half and the school the other half. You should go and talk to them again and say you looked at what FAFSA was and you weren't sure what that meant.

To be fair, everything nowadays can potentially give you some form of cancer.
