Idiot, Bloodfeather thought. He didn't want to go back to the clan just yet. He needed some peace and quiet. There was too much fighting and strife among the flock and it was getting to him. He was tired of it. Besides, no one would notice if he slipped out for a while by himself. He looked up from his thoughts and saw her. He froze. His first instinct was to clear out, but he stayed. He watched her carefully, the poor dear. He knew most of the clan treated her badly. He himself was even guilty of it. Quietly, he moved closer.
Stareye suddenly turned her head so that her ear was facing in Bloodeye's direction. She stayed like that for a while but then dismissed the noise as the squirrels. She cooed softly to herself.
