That was fascinating. It sounds to me like humans might, theoretically, be vulnerable to bovine spongiform encephylopathy (aka cwd, aka mad cow disease), but that since the asymptomatic period can run into several decades, no one knows for certain. IOW, it's all speculation.

My translation? "Are there not twelve hours in a day?" (IOW, "Is not the length of your life determined by your Father?") My takeaway: I'm gonna live as long as I'm gonna live. Not gonna take stupid risks or disregard healthful living, but also not gonna worry about bogeys like prions. Life always ends in more or less the same way, so why fret about what cannot be changed?

I know it’s not their fault and I do feel bad for them and that is why in the future I will not support the franken-chicken industry. Kinda like how some people feel about certain dog breeds, pugs as an example. I fed 2x a day and I put the food far away so they had to move. We also were going to see if we could breed our own meat birds. We have a few nice sized, broad cockerels out of a barnyard mix that we were going to experiment with. Time isn’t an issue for us, healthy birds are what we are aiming for. I was just saying to the SO that we should do a comparative nutrient analysis between CX and a normal chicken. Like a real scientific experiment. I just don’t know who would test the meat. Perhaps we could pay a school? 🤷‍♀️ View attachment 2190793View attachment 2190795View attachment 2190798
Maybe you could try heritage cornish? They are pretty and meaty

I, on the other hand, will continue to take risks simply because I do not want to go through the same things that my father did during the last 20 years of his life. However, I am in so much better shape than my father was at this age that it is not comparable.

Humans can definitely contract CJD from eating beef that contains PrPSc, the misfolded prion protein. The transmissibility of prion disease has been demonstrated experimentally in mammals. However humans can also develop CJD from a spontaneous misfolding of the prion protein, so there would likely be a certain degree of speculation involved in determining whether the cause of the disease was spontaneous, or whether it was contracted from eating infected meat.

One lasagna for tonight that I will share with the roommates, and three for the freezer to be pulled out and baked when I don't feel like cooking. The smaller ones are in bread pans.

Edit: These are made with Italian sausage. Anyone who uses hamburger in their lasagna deserves to have their cooking skills laughed at for eternity.

Pic of the chips with something for size comparison? Like a golf ball... something like that. We rented a chipper, and it was more like a chunker. 🙄 Was hoping for a more useful sized result. I might be up for a used one if lucky enough to find one--if any of them make better chips. 🤷‍♀️
What would make you think that I could possibly have a golf ball?
