I think it would be great if the member's section had the following sub categories:

• Games, Jokes, & Fun
• Pictures and Stories
• Miscellaneous

I do.not.understand why there would even be articles on these things.
IMO an 'article' should be a documentation of facts...an on BYC be about poultry,
not a fun time 'oh look I'm an author'.
Again I'll suggest that articles should be reviewed before publication,
then we would not have to sort thru the mess after the fact.

There are TONS of articles in member pages written as questions that should be in the forums. I know Sumi usually suggests in the comments that the author start a new thread, but all those useless articles still remain there forever. Those definitely need to be rounded up into a separate category...

We really should come up with a clean template for which peeps can follow for the "perfect article".

I love the idea of a template and adding relevant links, but maybe there should be 2 types of article templates because not everyone has that much research involved in their article (or non-article), and links wouldn't be required if it's just a story about their chicken...
I always assumed member pages didn't have to be "quality learning center material."

What about a section devoid of the ratings/reviews option?
I think it's sad when someone's amateur attempt at sharing is rated poorly, maybe they get discouraged and leave BYC. I know I've written a couple articles in MP not expecting to get reviews (for my own personal reference) but one got moved to the learning center and the other doesn't even really fit "article standards" and certainly isn't worthy of getting rated.

Can something be done to keep people from posting questions as articles?


Whatever new system you come up with, it would be nice if they were regulated to make sure they're actually posted in the relevant section.

There are probably a ton of gems hidden that could be moved directly into the LC, and other articles that, with a little bit of cleaning / updating (especially old ones that got broken during conversions), could also be added to the LC!

But the LC will need more categories, or at least split some that are already there:

• Hatching Eggs and Raising Chicks (totally different!)
• Incubators and Brooders (It's very frustrating looking for brooder ideas and all the incubators are mixed in)
• Feeders and Waterers (again, frustrating when only looking for one or the other)

Umm I’m definitely guilty of this

Well, not the asking questions in the articles section but the useless articles bit. I have a couple serious abominations in the articles section.

Idk how or why, must have written them as a kid before I knew what I was doing or what an article here was... can we get them deleted!?

No one needs to see them

Then again, they may be good to keep up for a laugh

Seems like member pages were originally meant for people to make a personal page about themselves, maybe like an intro thread, but it can be updated regularly. Nobody seems to do that anymore.

It says 2012 but I don’t know if that’s when I posted it or if I edited it then? I’ve been on since 2008.

Either way though, not recent. And I’m a lot more mature now so to me it looks so ridiculous

Also I was pretty old when I wrote it

And yeah, idk what I was thinking with that. I think I must not have known about galleries? Or maybe someone asked for pictures of something and I accidentally posted it in the wrong section? I don’t really know what I was thinking with that. I think I was taking pictures of all the possible chicken coop sites.

And yeah, I noticed that too. Was wondering if maybe a mod or something could delete it. I don’t know that I’d like to fix it up per se. It’s rather hilarious as is so I think I’d either like to just completely delete them all together or just keep them intact so I can go back and laugh at them like a museum of embarrassment.

Maybe there’s a way to just make them private? Or take them off my profile page at least? They show up right away. And have quite a lot of views.

And yeah I think that must be originally what it was cause otherwise idk why I would have written that

But yeah people definitely don’t seem to do that now. And they now all seem to follow the interview format for intros.
