➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Yes, you looked it up before. I may be wrong but suspect you just need the one permit for both.
I'll look again.

They got dirt.
They aren't too sure about it yet.

Oh my goodness!
How many eggs did you give them?

This is too precious.
MORE PICS PLEASE!

Four, three hatched tonight and one isn't even pipped - either even more late or dead in shell, but it's still in there under her. The finches helped the quails hatch by chipping away the shells, the two dark ones I assisted as they seemed to be struggling to get out - low humidity maybe. They are doing well now, everyone is dry, brooding under their "parents". I have them with a mother society finch and her two grown daughters, they are all helping but the mother is especially maternal and is very protective of her weird babies. I am not sure how she will react when they start to leave the nest tomorrow (which baby finches dont do for 4 weeks) which I've moved to the floor of a small rubbermaid container in a small cage. There's powdered gamebird crumble and a tiny water tube in the bin for them just a few inches away and the finches will show them where the food and water is, I just hope they go back to the nest to be brooded if they get cold or we will have to set up a brooder. Which I think is not as good as a bird mother, even of the wrong species.

I think it's a wild, a cinnamon, and a silver?
