➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Nope. But oh, my those canaries and gouldian finches! I want some of those, but I don't have an aviary like that to keep them in!

It doesn’t have to be as elaborate as his! :D

Did you type this one correctly?
I'm not sure if there is a such thing as a parasite bird or not.

I've never heard this before.

:lau not a species, like a bird that acts like it and takes over nests and stuff.

Kick the roommate out and turn his room into one.

:lau

I think she meant it just the way she said it. Like Cuckoos that don't take care of their own young, they push the real chicks/eggs out and leave theirs for other birds to raise.

I’ve never heard of this particular species but have heard of another species doing it. Forget which one. Neither of these two. Saw some TV special on it once. Who knew birds could be such leeches/mooches lol

But they won't pay rent! I'd want something like he has where I can hose down the floor, shelves, and feeders and have it all wash away.

He hoses that down!? Looks so crowded. How does he clean everything!?

:tongueYes smarty, I typed it correctly, plus I'm proofreading everything before I post, since the quinoa episode!

There’s 100 species that do this!? :th

I hate them LOL

I know it’s not that many compared to how many bird species there are but still.... endangering other beautiful species. :hit:rant

Lazy birds!!! :duc

Although I must say they are smart....

Wonder how they started figuring this out.... it is fascinating behavior.... especially that they mimic the throat spots/pattern :th

And :lau sorry about that.

But you do have to admit it was kind of funny :lau

"In 2020 @Kiki will" have the best and the time we are going through this wonderful family and the best opportunity to have done in a way we have to be a member in a good future for us and our support to our lives in a good future to work...

Oops, wrong thread!

:lau this game did start here after all. ;)

Beautiful! Thanks for posting this!

X2!!!

I also have 13 set right now due 9th-10th of January then I’m gonna set some more. My wife asked why I was setting so many eggs I told her because we are going to be butchering a bunch soon and I need to replenish my stock

The truth is I am doing my part to get to the 2020 hatched quail this year

:lau:gig:lau

Oh...I didn't know there were birds that did this.
I don't know bird things.
I think they are just opportunistic.
"Oh, you want to sit on my eggs, hatch & feed them forever, good deal, I'm going on vacation?" Makes me think of "Horton the Elephant"....

:lau definitely opportunistic! And smart!! I just hate that they’re hurting/killing other birds in the process. :hit

Maybe I’m just too soft hearted. :lau

And I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that movie lol I’m sure I’ve probably read the book though.

I had to look it up. There are a couple types of cuckoos that will push out the mama bird’s eggs and lay their own egg in the nest. Or they just lay in the same nest but their chicks grow faster and are more aggressive so the native children starve. Anyway they’re called brood parasites. So there... now we all are just that little bit smarter. ;)

Oh and I may be contributing this year too. We’ll see. I do want them but I also have tons of other things I want a lot more as well as several important things I don’t really want but have to do haha

Idk. I guess reality just kinda struck recently and I’ve realized now is really not the best time for quail (or any new animal really). :(

BUT.

A year is a very long time so maybe I’ll have time for everything I want to do. :D

That’s so sad. :( :hit
