➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Yeah, I could never kill them lol and idk, some of them have a lot of personality haha when they’re kept in those little guinea pig cages or tiny hutches I don’t think they really have much personality but when they’re loose in the house or even an x pen or bigger outdoor pen, they can be a lot of fun. Mine used to binky around the house and run and hop and zoom around. They can be fun.
Who's going to butcher all your current males?

This last one....keeps opening up her beak.
She is doing it on the hardware cloth trying to get out a window. I've about had enough of her trying to escape.

She is doing it only on one side of the cage. The window that faces another cage. Could she be trying to get to the male over there?

When I was in high school a friend of mine had a rabbitry. She had about 30-40 rabbits and when they were on vacation I would take care of them. They gave me one, and it was okay as a pet, but i prefer cats. Cats are a lot less work and every bit as fluffy.
I have a doggy door & a neighbor dog that thinks cats are vermin, so I can't have a cat while she's alive....
I might do rabbits, but they’re so cute and fluffy. :( It’s hard enough killing birds.
I don’t think rabbits make very good pets. IMO pets belong in the house and DH would never go for that. (Plus the dogs might think it looked yummy and not give a rip how fluffy and cute.) IME rabbits just kind of sit there and maybe cutely nibble on a vegetable. If I were to get rabbits they would have to be food. I might get them even so, for some variety... a change from birds. I’d get quail first all the same.
Agreed, there are things higher up the list than rabbits..... Buttons may be next (just for fun birds though).

She hasn't prolapsed since that 1st day. I've been giving her extra calcium everyday, but I don't know if she's laid since it happened.... 1 quail did not lay in that pen today, so it could have been her.

My scalped one hasn't started laying yet.... maybe from the stress of healing?

My eggs today....
