Yes...but You should start to see that air sac get larger as it draws down towards the middle of the egg.I have a question...
Tomorrow is hatch day for my grocery store quail egg. I figured it would be ok to candle the egg today since there was no external pip, hoping to see an internal one. No internal pip either. I did notice, however, that most of the egg was dark. There was an obvious air sac visible but it seems smaller than what I've seen some of you guy post. Like, it's just the end of the egg. Also, the last time I candled, when I whistled I saw movement but today there was nothing visible. Are both of those things typical towards the end?
He's fine now that I busted him out.How is it doing?

Can you get a clear picture of it while candling in a dark room?
Thanks. This is the best I could get.
Thanks.
Leave it be.
It hasn't drawn down yet.
Once it draws down then it with internally pip...then in about 12 hours it will externally pip.
I find that they don't start hatching until 24 hours after they externally pip.
So I'm going to guess you are looking at a Tuesday hatch.
The less you mess with it the better. Thanks! I was worried about the little guy. I mean, it's made it this far. I'd be completely bummed if it didn't make it the home stretch!
