➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

This was my first time ever with a holes.
I had never experienced this before and I will not deal with it again either.
Off with their head immediately.

I think this is a first time for Nutty too.
I swear I think it has something to do with their age and the time of year.
Between introductions in a new cage and the time of the year or genetics, who knows. These 2 were brothers. The testicles on both these little guys were huge. I tried. I lost 2 females and a third is healing.

As with all breeding programs, set more eggs than you think you need and cull hard. Keep the top 10% only.

There is an ad on a local board asking for a home for a Rosetta male that is too aggressive with his hens. Stressed that he was a pet and needed to be kept as a pet for a modest rehoming fee. I thought it was cute.

The juveniles are quickly approaching 8 weeks. One of those males will go to the breeder slot.

I have one female who is just a terror. She charges when I open the coop and has actually bitten me. I’m down to 8 laying hens though so I’ve kept her. If I were to hatch from this group I’d remove her first though. Ornery thing. :rant

3 weeks.
They go outside at 1 week like the chickens. In fact, they are exactly like chickens only smaller and flightier according to Batty. She isn't wrong.

Feather sex those that are feather sexable at 4 weeks with high degree of certainty.
And do I set my eggs immediately in the bator? Or do I let them settle for a bit?

Wow, does Myshire do good packing! I'm very impressed. None are cracked or broken. Some are HUGE!
