Well, I may have spent too much on eggs, but I have a customer lined up for five or six hens and doesn't mind the wait, so that will pay for a third of what I ordered.

That's what I was planning on using, or something like it. I was also thinking of filling the bottom PVC pipes with sand to hold them down.

I would use "J" stakes rather than filling them with sand. You can make your own out of solid bars or rebar of the appropriate diameter. Or you can buy already made ones.

If you're putting this on the ground, cut hardware cloth to bury for keeping birds in, predators out, then ziptie the wire barrier to the bottom of the ground PVC. I love zipties!
