Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
Guess who had quail this morning? Food coma time. (I fed it to him, he didn't help himself. Had to make a decision on a recent hatch.)

My cats get a lot of the innards when I process. They know when it's time to come running from the sound of the shears.

I'm having so much fun watching this single chick with the old hen. I opened the brooder to make sure the heat lamp was working (It's turned off a couple times), and the hen stood up, walked a bit, then shook her wings and the chick fell out.
Yep, it is kinda funny when that happens.

My fertility test is looking good! I set 102 eggs and pulled infertiles yesterday. There are 83 eggs left in there, but 10 of the eggs I pulled were from my retirement pen, which has all old birds, so not a surprise. My scarlets had the next worst fertility. Only two each pulled from my jumbos and calico fee.

This definitely tells me that the calico fee hatch I tried earlier was just too soon. 40 out of 41 of those were infertile.
