➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Hi all. I’ve been reading posts for days (and days) trying to glean wisdom for my first hatch. I’m gearing up to set the eggs tomorrow and am just trying not to over think things too much. My biggest concern at the moment is making sure my temperature is accurate enough. Going to try a few more testing rounds tonight with thermometers I already own and see what happens.

Any last minute advice?
Set all of the eggs you have.
Post all questions you have.
Take lots of pictures.
Don’t candle five times a day like Kiki. Three is enough.

1. Get one good thermometer and separate hygrometer. Calibrate both. Label them primary and ONLY use primary thermometer for temperature adjustments. Only use primary hygrometer for humidity adjustments. Use the other 5 thermometers and hygrometers for checks in different parts of the incubator. Good thermometer & hygrometer in center after calibrated.
2. Run the incubator for a week. 2 is better, but 3 weeks is best. In the same, draft free, temperature stable spot. House or garage, your preference, to adjust the thermostat to 99.5°F. Adjust humidity to 45-55%.
3. Once thermostat is set, start eggs incubating and don't adjust it for 4 weeks. Add water as needed.
4. Really, don't monkey with the thermostat. You had 3 weeks to monkey with it. It is perfect, don't touch it.
5. Remember this is fun, so smile. Don't stress.
