Not a hoarder.Hatching some replacements for me and rest will be sold. Have double racks of chickens in the 2nd cabinet. Fan shot craps in the 3rd cabinet yesterday so I have another one on the way. Those eggs were moved to hatchers to cook until the fan comes in.
Finally got everything in the pot. We might be eating late tonight.Yum, quail gumbo!![]()
Same thing happened to my last hatch too. Weird.YAY KIKI!!!
You know, in 2/4 of my hatches so far the very first chick to pip has died soon after. Very weird, wonder what the factors that are correlating there are.
Awe..I'm sorry they didn't make it.@Texas Kiki how are your new little ones doing?
On our front here, we have 47 that are doing well and growing. All 47 se ef m to be strong and healthy.
Our ones with splayed legs didn't make it. A few died and I had to cull two. I had to chill another one who get soaked somehow. It was laying up against the water tray. I think others sp lo ashed it while drinking and climbing on the rocks in the water tray. This wet one looked like it was trampled too. It was in very tough shape and suffering. I tried quarantining it in a shoe box placed in the brooder, but ultimately I had to cull it.
Just got my very first two poops. I bought this today:I can’t wait to see all of these babies! How will you handle the poop???

You can take a couple quail with you.I am so jealous! I can't hatch any chicks- hubby wants me to stop having chickens because I retire soon and we will be traveling. I am happy to retire but can't I just take the chicks with me
Um...we didn't think of that! When it gets like that, I find it easier to count the unhatched eggs to figure out how many are hatched.
I had a neighbor look after them when we went away for two weeks last year and I was so ticked off when I got home and the water they were drinking was disgusting he never cleaned out the container- I don't even think he had given them fresh water while I was gone.
