āž” Quail Hatch Along🄚

Yep, some of us complained that the regular wasn't spicy enough. They accepted the challenge and got better. :D

Nothing like Aunt Laura's ChowChow, but you can buy this in the store. You gotta ask Aunt Laura if she has any left. And chances are she doesn't.

How was cajun dancing invented?
Some poor soul was eating crawfish and didn't wash his hands before going to the rest room. :D

Not hot enough!? OMG!!

And omg :lau :lau

Back to the topic of quail chicks... :p

I put my first batch of chicks outside today in their almost finished hutch. They're young, but I turned their heat lamp off a week ago because they seemed to be getting too hot, and the weather outside is hot. Not too hot, I hope. I made sure they had shade, three sources of water, a couple of boxes to hide in, and food.

It's supposed to get hot today, but I should be home during the hottest part of the day to check on them.

New chicks should be hatching Sun-Tue!

Heres a spread of a few types

I wasnt fully functional at 1AM or ida explained more. The one all the way to the left is what i usually buy and the one all the way to the right is what most people use. The spice and herbs isnt too hot.

It sounds good!! I might have to try it or see if I can find it here. Or I guess I could get it on Amazon? Didn’t realize it was on Amazon. Might be easier. Still curious if it’s in stores though.

That sounds like a challenge! And fun! I'll meet you half way. Eunice or Lacassine? If we meet in Iowa, we can get some Rabideaux's sausage. Baton Rouge has some good eats too. If we go to Ville Platte, we can see if Fred's on Main street is open. You know any good spots in Lafayette? I could ask Ms. Guillot, she's from there.

Kiki - what's a good spot in Eunice? Besides the Holiday Inn at the airport? Or Rayne or Welsh. Wife has family in Welsh I could ask.

Whatcha wanna do, cher?

U better come to my side the basin, the jambalaya spot is good but the cracklin's jus up the st at Andre's are all the rave. Mr Robby is near opelousas so thats a productive trip too! For now ill jus pass out one of these :smackand we return to your quail @Nabiki

Im sure theyll.be fine in the heat, without the lamp. I generally toss mine outside at 1 wk without a lamp. I make sure i do it at a warm part of the day and by nightfall theyre glad for the cool off.
I'm not worried about them getting too cold, I'm worried about them getting too hot! It's supposed to be in the 90s today.

Right, my temps are in the 90s nearly everyday, and im saying im sure yours will be fine in the heat. How old are they now? You said theyre well shaded with lots of water, thats all they Need. Fans just keep them cool enough for eating enough to keep em laying real well. You might notice a small drop in feed consumption with heat waves or later with egg production.
