I'd do a bantam rooster. They're quieter, smaller, more gentle, and easier on the girls.

That’s what I was thinking because I was terrified a standard rooster would be aggressive but then I’ve heard standard roosters can be great too and some of the bantams ones can be nasty so now idk. I’ve heard OEGB are super nice though and Cochins probably are too.

I want to keep two, one to go with the current girls and one to go with the new ones I’m getting, but I probably can’t so idk.

I might just choose one from the hatch and then one from the new chicks and evaluate them both but it’s gonna be sooo hard to choose.

I'm thinking about getting another one but I want it to be a silkie or polish. I'm going to have to make an aviary I think for them. Im going to ask the hubs what he thinks. I'd love to breed silkies or polish.

That sounds like an awesome plan!!

I would love to have breeding pens and stuff. If I could, I would probably have multiple pens of multiple breeds. Like it’d be cool to breed OEGB or the Brabanters or the Cochins and maybe some other color varieties of them or some Welsummers haha

Well see, I have to remove my 9 chicken & 8 guinea eggs from my large GQF & put them over into my GoodMother for the last week of their time, too many to use its little turner....
I have 60 eggs coming that I have to put in the GQF, plus 60 of my own.....
I just hope it won't hurt them to go from being pointy tip down this whole time to side laying for the last week?

It won't hurt them at all and it isn't even necessary to turn them during their last week.

Only issue is HeiHei. He can fly over any fence and I'm not clipping his wings because I prefer him that way. Hes my baby boy... I've completely fell for that little guy!

That’s probably smart!! Probably makes more sense to just pick one breed haha

But even if I don’t breed them, it’d just be cool to have multiple roosters. Like one for each pen even if the hens are mixed. I’d need at least 3 roosters in that case haha

I really love the Barred Rock but they’re all cool. It would be awesome to keep the Welsummer just because the other Welsummer chick is a girl and I could have a pair but idk. Should probably sell them as a pair, may be easier, but I’ve always wanted a Welsummer so I kinda wanna keep the pullet chick. Idk.

And guess you’ll have to put a roof over the other pen so he can’t get in lol

Well maybe you need to add a couple directly to your flock then!

I’m sure he and/or Squash would protect them. And Silkies are pretty big for bantams. Especially the TSC ones. They’re like dinosaurs and hardly bantam LOL you could get a few of those for him.

Then some real bantams separate haha
