Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
Hatch out total of 90 so far. today is day 2 (#19). Saw one of the unhatched rocking, but don't know if the leftovers are gonna hatch. There are 6 myshire & 5 HG eggs left. 1DiS removed & culled a wry neck. So I have 88 in the brooder (for now). How's everybody else's hatches going this morning?

I think my FF batch is doomed. I found another egg with cracks in it, and I candled a couple and see stuff floating around. Not reassuring.

My homegrown seem to be doing well on the few I candled. The one I candled from the SSC batch is fertile! I wasn't really expecting fertile eggs from them yet. I'll have to see what the fertility rate is since there is only one roo to seven hens in there.

Anyone know if there is an official Valentine’s Day hatch along
You are more than welcome to start one. 😈

While I am more than curious about the home grown eggs, I won't candle until Friday. That gives them a week to grow. Assuming fertile for the moment.

I caught it before it had died actually, but I think the damage was done already, it was really chilled from being in the water for ? amount of time & I think that's what got it imo. I hate it when it happens, because I check on them at least a million times a day!
Yep, once chilled, it doesn't take long for them to succumb. :(
