No it's not hot.
I have no idea how long they can go without water.
I don't want to find out either.

I've been giving mine soaked feed. I'm not sure they'd be sick if I forgot their water though they do drink... Can you do that with quail?

Yes and I actually used to start mine on wet feed but stopped because the dummies made too much of a mess walking in it.

I put it in one of those long feeders with holes all along both sides. Someone ought to make those for quail.
