The scissors also work decently to cut up chickens, but not big enough in my experience to cut their neck properly. We use branch cutting shears we got at home Depot for that.

Is that what they’re for? To cut up the meat? I was wondering. But yeah, they did look a bit weak/small for chickens haha do you like the shears? I was thinking of using a knife. I read about pithing but not sure I could do that properly and humanely. Was actually thinking of just lopping their heads completely off with an ax or something.

But I really don’t think I’m gonna kill these guys. Gonna try to rehome them instead.

My butcher friend says that he doesn't need anything other than a sharp kitchen knife.

Yeah, a sharp knife would do the trick too, but I find scissors are easier for me. And my fiance usually ends up using the good sharp knife. We also have a pair of game butchering scissors we got from Bass pro shop, they come apart to wash them easily and they hold their edge nicely.

If you use an axe or machete, make sure it's sharp. Make sure the bird can't move it's neck out of the zone. And be careful withe the neck feathers, try to get them out of the way... otherwise the axe might bounce, preventing the blow from killing the bird cleanly and causing it distress/pain. That's why we switched to the pruning shears.

Talk to her about impulse control next time, see if she has advice to help curb your impulse buying.

Probably a good idea especially considering how I impulsively acquired several animals.

But I don’t really want to force the direction of the thing. Idk.

Also it hasn’t been that bad lately.

But it kinda relates to another thing we’ve been working on so I might bring it and a third thing up. Think they all go together.

Turned the incubator off today, had a few eggs that didn’t hatch. My hatch was 28 in total but sadly 1 had died it looks like it’s tummy wasn’t closed up properly or something not sure. It had a shiny patch if wet looking skin on its tummy.
