Still no eggs from my Snowflakes, not sure when she is going to start laying, hopefully soon

I’m literally having the worst luck with hatching this year. I’ve hatched absolutely nothing and 2020 was meant to be the year I hatched the most.

I have a cockerel that isn’t fertilising any eggs despite mounting all the hens and quails that aren’t laying

In the meantime when I wait for the quails to start laying, I’m going to try and set more of my Silkie eggs.

Personally, I’m not hopeful that they are fertilised but people here have said they are. Guess I’ll know for sure in 5 days, I set them this morning.

This virus must be effecting the whole lot of my birds fertility

I'll be setting assorted quail eggs (snowy, pearl, pansy, and tuxedo) by April 8th just ordered my eggs. I got a free hutch from a friend for bunnies, but it'll be perfect for my quail. It was just sitting in their barn

Hutch and a coop. The coop is for my bantams the hutch is for the quail I didn't mention the coop we got because it's chicken related Feel like the luckiest girl in the world.

Looks like bullseyes to me. I would suspect they’re fertile.

thermometer at ~90°F in that half of the brooder and lower closer to the camera and the water. Looks comfortable to me.

Where do you advertise to sell chicks? This amazes me.

I advertise on craigslist and facebook. It helps that I'm the only person in my area who has or at least who advertises quail. I have two inquiries right now for hatching eggs too. One person may just order 60 chicks from me.

I’m still scheming about getting button quail though DH has all but put the kibosh on it. He rightfully points out that eventually I won’t be spending 6 1/2 days a week at home and will go back to being short on free time.

Anyone have any budget cage ideas for them other than an aquarium? How many square feet for a pair?

I converted a brooder into my button habitat. The one I have them in is a bit small, so I'm moving them into my bigger brooder this afternoon. I have my huge brooder now so they can have my big one. I would give a pair 4 square feet.

Do you just use a tote for brooders? Any thoughts on clear versus opaque sides? Do they want to be able to see out?
