Quail getting into position to break out of the egg
I don't understand wth is going on 🙈 I think I'm missing something honestly or I just don't see how this would even work.
I'm on my third attempt to hatch eggs in my bra. First time developed completely normally, if a tiny bit slowly. Made it to day 22 then my boyfriend's dog kicked me in the chest and broke it, unfortunately baby had not absorbed all the blood vessels so he didn't make it. I tried again with 10 quail eggs, most weren't fertile. Three were and made it to hatch day, two of those had infected yolks and one pipped then died, I think because perhaps I took too long to assist. So now I'm trying again, with some button and coturnix eggs and one egg from my hens.

It's hard but you have to be able to block all of the light out....you can't let any of the light shine around the egg.

Does that make sense?
Yep. I’ve gotten okay with the coturnix eggs. These are just so dark I wasn’t sure I could see anything. Now just have to decide if four days is close enough to try.

Yes, and yes. Eggs were manually turned three times daily, temperature checked with an analog thermometer, a digital hygrometer and also an infrared gun.
Infrared temperature guns are not a reliable or accurate temperature measuring device.

I'm trying something new.
I just picked up these eggs from someone and I'm going to try and hatch them for them.View attachment 2094328

This ice cube trays holds the eggs just perfectly.
I am giving the tray back but I think I'll keep my eye out for one of my own.

Temp at 99.5-100F. Humidity was around 45%.
What do you mean when you say that only one egg made it part way through incubation then died.... does that mean the other 16 eggs were clear?

I would say that it's your breeding stock then. They are not laying good enough eggs to be incubated especially if you can't get them to hatch in an incubator.
Except three of the five eggs from my hens that I've tried to boobcubate have begun to develop, including OG boobegg, and 1 is currently in my bra and growing well so far. Plus I had some eggs from a friend's totally unrelated game pair. I don't think it was my breeding stock at all. I could be wrong though, but I think it was just bad luck.
