It’s amazing what a mess such tiny little things can make!!

Mine too!!! LOL though the new feeder I put it in seems to have helped. It’s got a lid before they’d either eat it all or kick it away in 2 seconds.

Also they kick shavings into the water the second I change it!!

I need to raise it up.

I had them on paper towels for a couple weeks to prevent that but they poop so dang much and make such a mess, I switched them the other day haha got sick of cleaning it every 5 seconds and wasting all our paper towels.

It seems quail also poop a lot and make just as much of a mess!?

How did it work when you put their food dish in a box?

Ah okay. I haven’t seen the play or read the book but they just made a movie in like 2012 (okay so not “just” ) and it’s very very good!!!

mine have recently started scratching around. They like scratching the shavings and their food lol thinking of stealing @Kiki idea and making a dirt box for them we have the perfect box for it.

I hate this...it drives me nuts.
Cut a small hole in a plastic container...so they can only stick their head in the hole.

I wonder if it would help to feed mash/fermented? I find my big birds (compared to quail, I mean) don't waste the food as long as it's been at least soaked. The fermented (if I remember to wet it down soon enough) smells like bread rising. They go nuts over that. When I feed the same stuff dry, it ends up all over the ground and they stand in the feeder and scratch and pick their favorite parts.
