➡ Quail Hatch Along🥚

Just turn the turner off, otherwise, they can get caught between the rails. And they can't play soccer with the other eggs.
Nice call on the soccer. That always drives me bonkers. I have eggs that will be hatching soon so I’ll stick in the turner unplugged.

Would quail be okay to hatch this way as well?

Today is lockdown for my mixed pen experiment batch. My boy obviously has too many girls.
I pulled 7 clears, so 9 went into lockdown.

I have 5 hatched so far from the SSC batch. One pipped, then made a bigger hole, then died.
I wasn’t loving that the quail died. I’m sorry that happened. My friends duckling I was hatching did that too. Wonder why?

These two batches are specifically for me to see where my problems are. I suspected, and now I'm pretty sure that my white/silver boy is the source of some sort of lethal gene combo. I'm not surprised that I had one do this. I have another egg in there that looked good at lockdown, but hasn't pipped and I don't see any signs of life in there now. The white/silver boy is going to go away before I hatch any more from the SSC pen.

I had a second rooster in my mixed pen that my german pastel got along with, but he managed to slip out and got eaten by something (I found a pile of feathers), but he hasn't accepted any others that I've tried to put in with him. He's getting old enough to be replaced and I think I'll put in a pair of roos that were raised together when I do.

This is what has hatched so far from the SSC pen. @Kiki should like all of the little yellow ones.

Do you have Kiki quail hatching too?

I'm looking at 55 eggs in the incubator and am having problems considering 120 eggs hatching at the same time. I'm just not set up for large groups and doubt I want to be.

@Nabiki - when you say 3 batches, how big are your batches? After brooding, you sell them right away?
They're small batches. My HG are a dozen each, then a larger kiki batch of about 30. Can't check right now, catching pokemon...
