Good news: most of my eggs are developing.

Bad news: My banty Brahma pullet has a leg issue that is suspiciously similar to the leg problem that took out her mom

I don't know the specifics of your circumstances but if it was leg paralysis I'd suspect merecks or however you spell it

Could be genetic disposition to that kind of issue? If she makes it and you can confirm it's the same thing, might think really hard about whether to use her for breeding, if that was your plan.

I suspect both of these but it's so suspect around its occurance.
Her mom was the only one to get it at the place where she lived. And this pullet is the only one who has it here.

I suspect it is genetics and will be contacting her breeder to inform them that they should reevaluate their breeding stock. This pullet will not be bred and instead will be sold if she survives.

Ok so I cannot catch her. Well really I didn't try, just tried to get her close enough with treats for a pic but since she's raised completely by Momma she never wants anything to do with me. (I'm saying "she"now as if I'm sure but I'm only about 75%). I know these are terrible but they may be all you need to see. Anyway I'll get a better pic when they go up to roost but for now I'll share what I did get since I called attention to the matter. This chick started out with a very large comb and big legs and upright stance. I just knew it was a cockerel but everyday it looks more hen to me now. I think the reason I'm thrown is that she's an f2 (at least) OE so she's got this straight comb but it's not typical in that it's staying a little flat to the head maybe bc of the EE/ameraucauna influence. She looks like a pullet to me so far. But she might be a crow or egg type bird

I could fix it. The TNR program is free here but why return an unwanted animal is the question.

Bc feral cats believe it or not can benefit the ecosystem especially when they can't rapidly reproduce. Most environments at one point had an appropriate # of top predators to keep the varmints in check. Now larger or more verocuous predators are heavily "unwanted" bc they are hard to control. A spayed/ neutered feral cat is the perfect alternative. It'll keep the snakes/ rats in check without booming the population with more offspring.

Bunny population would explode without a predator.

As a northerner I have to ask - what kind of cold weather can you possibly be concerned about? Aren't you in Louisiana?
