➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

If I can figure out how to make one I will.
And yes, I will this time because if she does I need to clean house. And I was planning on showing next year so knowing if I have it is kind of a big deal.
I'm not going to be like Egg Man and act like I don't have issues....... (Can you tell I'm a bit salty?)
You’re right to be salty, IMHO.

FYI, marek’s cannot be cleaned out with any sort of ease. It’s theorized that the dust can stay in soil for several years and still be contagious. What breeders/showers do when they have Marek's, I have no idea.. every responsible flock owner I’ve heard of who has a less lethal strain just keeps a closed flock for life.
Not every type shows anything wrong with their eyes, by the way. The listlessness, paralysis, and wasting away is all clear enough signs to me. When my very first flock got it, it was a very hot strain and wiped 10 out of 12 out probably within a month, right before they hit POL. The last two showed no signs but were killed by raccoons in our last ditch attempt at a quarantine cage.

Swaps :sick
Fair shows :sick

A lot of people know ZERO about chicken diseases and BIOSECURITY and there are a lot of people that just care about money and ribbons.

There is a member right here on BYC that has deathly ill birds ALL the time and she still takes birds to sell at swaps.
Disgusting.
Can you PM me the name of this person? I just want to make sure that we don't do business with that person.

Did this flock have the vaccine? I know some really bad strains are emerging because of the leakiness of the vaccine.

What is an automatic humidity system?
This sounds neat.
Mine is a 5 gallon bucket as a reserve that feeds a water tray in the cabinet incubator through a float valve to maintain a set amount of water during incubation. Humidity wick pads are added at lockdown to increase the humidity. The wick pads work much better than sponges.

Here is her worst eye (almost always closed)

Nope, not that I’m aware of. They came from a weird third party seller who bought them from Ideal.

This was also several years ago and we’ve moved since then.
Okay, I know we had discussed this before but I couldn't remember if you had said that your flock had it or not.
