You are correct. I think if another bird eats the scabs that have fallen off they can get it from that too.

That was probably an awful way to go. I got really gunshy about believing anything regarding my birds when my DE situation happened. I was advised to use DE and I did research but none of the "de doesn't work stuff" never shows up when you look it up. It's just loads of articles and recommendations for it. Here I was devastated that they had a respiratory issue, one had a swollen sinus and several had discharge. I actually even treated them with antibiotics upon advice but the DE use never occurred to me until literally mid antibiotic treatment i reapplied DE in their run (while wearing a mask to protect my own self - hello should've been obvious) and them bam symptoms started back the next day! It hit me like a ton of bricks; all of the sudden I knew exactly what was causing their problems! I felt like an idiot for not thinking that one through!

I would like to point out for the record every one of those birds is still alive and well and symptom free over a year later. (Except my salmon fav that died of her vent issue I didn't recognize in time .) I still have all these girls. Jic anyone was wondering. @Cyprus i think I'm bored too.

We go as far as to loan out birds if I or one of the people in my circle gets it to try and infect the others young ones

My neighbor was sick once so I text her to tell her if she needed help with anything to let me know; I can't remember exactly what I was trying to say but it was along those lines. Anyway... My iPhone changed it to "if you need help taking a bath let me know"!!! I almost died! Thank goodness she has a great sense of humor bc we laughed our butts off! I wish I had a screen shot of the conversation bc I swear it was one for the funny text fail sites. It was an amazing disaster.
