➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Yeah, it died.

That was probably an awful way to go. I got really gunshy about believing anything regarding my birds when my DE situation happened. I was advised to use DE and I did research but none of the "de doesn't work stuff" ever shows up when you look it up. It's just loads of articles and recommendations for it. Here I was devastated that they had a respiratory issue, one had a swollen sinus and several had discharge. I actually even treated them with antibiotics upon advice but the DE use never occurred to me until literally mid antibiotic treatment i reapplied DE in their run (while wearing a mask to protect my own self - hello should've been obvious) and then bam symptoms started back the next day! It hit me like a ton of bricks; all of the sudden I knew exactly what was causing their problems! I felt like an idiot for not thinking that one through!

Kinda off topic but I welcome fowl pox. About this time of year that years hatch gets it and they look rough for a couple weeks then they are immune for life. Alot of people freak out about pox but I welcome it. Never lost a bird from it either. And all mine after the first will never get it again and most times it's not bad at all I believe from letting the young blood in my yard get it it kinda adds to the resistance each year

A couple of mine have had very mild cases fowl pox on their comb and I've never worried about it or even treated it (if that's even a thing). I never knew that they were immune after that but that's awesome! Kind of like chicken pox... (no pun intended)

But then wouldn't they be carriers?

I'm no fowl pox expert but I don't think it works like that. It's spread by mosquitoes from affected birds to other birds right? Once they are asymptotic the bird is recovered. I'm pretty sure. @casportpony can you confirm this?
You are correct. I think if another bird eats the scabs that have fallen off they can get it from that too.
