Okay I need a moment to blow off a little steam about ANOTHER egg supplier who failed to inform me about a little piece of info that would have been supplier curtosy to share....

Remember those eggs I'm incubating right now? I started with 23. I have 8 left and this is day 8.
Oddly enough most of the early quitters were from one of the two cartons given to me.

I was losing my mind since this morning about the astonishing number of eggs I lost. I could not figure out what the problem was. I didn't think it was my incubator; the temps and humidity had been stable.
I thought maybe it was the eggs but how could it be?

Supplier texts me to ask if I candled. First internal reaction was get off my butt it is day 8 and you aren't even paying me. Didn't say that, just replied 'Yes'.
Then he proceeds to tell me that some of the eggs he gave me may have been over 10 days old when he gave them to me.
10 DAYS OLD?!!?!

Well no shat I had issues. Thanks for not telling me that earlier.....
And after you told me I could keep half of what hatches like anything would hatch.

This is why I have trust issues.

And why ALL of my hatching eggs for next year will be shipped from people outside of my community because the people inside it apparently suck.

A nurse posted his positive test results on a social media anti-vax page and was fired for it. I don’t think the boy was vaccinated.
She also commented (before being fired) that she “seriously considered swabbing his mouth to take home” to infect her own son.
Is this seriously 2018? smfh.

wow when I got the measles my mom didn't even take me to the dr... no one took their kids in for the measles, chicken pox or mumps... or colds or flues... must be a different strain now days

I might just do that if I have to buy another but hated to just toss it if it were unnecessary. Trying to dig up some way to get the rust off and safely seal it to stop more from forming but I just don't know if it's possible. Maybe I'll find some repurposed use for it. I hate plastic crap though!

you don't use acv in it do you? and it's not galvanized is it?

Yes. But even with shipped eggs I still had a better survival rate.

I mean, I’ve successfully incubated eggs that were over month old and hadn’t been kept properly or even turned at all. I don’t think that’s entirely your problem. But I don’t think I would trust a supposed breeder who isn’t incubating themselves. That seems a little off to me.

Yep I sure did. It's been at least 4 months since I did though, but I'm guessing that's what caused it.
