I don't give birds with feathered feet any special care.

As far as silkies go, they feel the cold more because of their feather type. Mine did fine in -40 last winter though, so I'm not sure I believe that.

Thank you. I'm new to chicken raising as it is. I have 4 Australorps and 2 Jersey Giants. Not exactly a HUGE flock. And they're pretty hardy birds so I've just let them do their thing. *side note* Now that they are at POL, and are squatting and submitting... oh my goodness they are so much nicer! I can pet them and pick them up and any time they see us coming, they come running to greet us. I love it! It's GREAT! :love
I didn't know if the more froo froo like birds required more attention. LOL

Bacteria infection = enterococcus faecium
