➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Trapped the bobcat early this morning.
This time it was a big male.

Haha! That’s so opposite from us! We were hoping for a male and female, thought Cayugas were a quiet breed, and we had no idea that they couldn’t fly (we were going to release them into our pond when they got old enough). Turns out they’re loud, non-flying hens who go broody on a dime and are the bullies of the yard.
Our Cayugas are noisy talkers, but not loud.
The Pekin cross Cayugas are less noisy.
All are great layers and only two have gone broody.

Nice start on your coop.

Great news on the cat! Good job! Now kill it!

It's hard to tell. Can you get a clearer picture?

I already removed it. Only other pic I have that I took of it is this one. This was before I started moving shavings around. I'll include both sizes just in case it is easier to see by one way or they other. I know for sure this was not there when I let them out this morning because I cleaned up the poop first thing. That's when I found that super soft egg. So one of the girls came back in and did this.

Looks like egg yolk to me. Probably a soft shell egg that broke and the hens cleaned it up. If you have fake eggs, I would make sure that they are out to discourage egg eating behavior.

I have 2 fake eggs, but 4 nest boxes. Should I have an egg in each box? It's never been an issue until now. Maybe I am trying to collect the eggs too soon or too often and not helping the situation any. It's just so exciting for me to be getting eggs now that I just want to check and grab them. So maybe I will back off and wait to try and collect until late afternoon/early evening to ensure that all the girls have laid. Give them a treat to occupy them and gather the eggs. Something like that. Think maybe that will help?
