➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Sooo Tractor Supply finally carries Nutrena NatureWise Hearty Hen and All Flock (they used to only carry layer pellets and crumbles, Feather Fixer, chick starter/grower and meatbird crumble), and I almost bought the All Flock because no one is laying now and I usually buy Purina FlockRaiser but Nutrena percentages are better but anyway... then I noticed this... this batch was manufactured July 27th... I am think I shouldn't buy it?? Guess it must not be selling well??? But I don't want someone else's flock to get sick. Also it is way cheaper. $14.99 instead of $18.49. (Idk why Purina is so expensive, Purina layer feed is only $15.99, same price as the Hearty Hen). But I am thinking it is not worth it? Purina was manufactured October and September. Thoughts?

Buy the newer one.

Completely agree with Kiki. It depends on your TSC and how they store the back stock feed. I've bought some with an older man. date and when you open it, it has molded or is starting to mold. Mice are a problem right now too. I went to my "better" TSC this past weekend and noticed all the feed bags had little chew holes in them. Most were taped over but the staff missed a few.

Forgot to post before but

Went in my room, sat down, didn't see the cat on my bed at first, she pawed me on the arm to make sure I saw her and paid attention to her :lau

Speaking of cats, my hubby showed me a video last night of one of our local SPCAs getting in a flight....yes a flight....of 102 cats from FL after Michael. I know in the past they've done big adoption events between here and PA for dog and cat survivors of hurricanes. We still have one of our girls from Katrina...although she's getting up there in age. Anyway, to my shock, he wanted to adopt one from this storm aftermath. We have always done rescue cats and presently have quite a few (cough 7 cough....he's the crazy cat person not me, I swear) so I was shocked when he said this. I'm not sure if he will go through with it or not, but I'll keep y'all posted if it happens.

I had to buy some more feed for my chicks and ducks so I stopped in at a dif TSC than I usually go to because I happened to be in that area. I grabbed the last bag of Purina Flock Raiser they had and my dumb butt didn't check the date on it. Fast forward 2 days, yes 2 days. My DH had fed the animals those 2 days and on the 3rd day I did. I opened the tote that we keep the feed in and the smell. Oh my goodness the smell! I was like, what in the world is that? I figured out that it was the feed really quick and ended up making a trip to TSC (the one that I normally go to) right away and got a dif bag and returned that bag. The date on the bad feed was April. 6 months. Maybe not all feed does that, I don't know. But I will for sure check dates on the bags from now on. Lesson learned.

Thankfully no. I was so worried about that. I griped at my DH a little bit because I couldn't believe he couldn't smell what I did but in his defense, he doesn't have the greatest smelling ability first thing in the morning when he first wakes up due to allergies and that's when he would feed them. So he truly couldn't tell. I'm just glad that I noticed as fast as I did.

Aw lucky you fed them and found out quickly then!!

This is just sad we let these breeds get like that* :/ I'm glad someone is working on improving pugs though

*yes I know boxers aren't quite as bad as some of the others and I love them, actually love most of these breeds, but still, not fair to them

Who's watching the baseball game? I think Kiki (and other Houstonites) and I are sadly pitting against each other atm lol
Rooting for the Red Socks because I'm not a fan of the Astros. Sorry Kiki :tongue

Right now my home team, the Milwaukee Brewers, is playing against the Dodgers! Gonna watch them tonight. GO BREWERS!!!! :woot
