➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Good news! I got my first egg!

Bad news.. all my chickens are sick.. seemingly overnight. They’re all doing the weirdest neck/head shake, some are sneezing, and Whitey is very mucousy and withdrawn. :/
I’ve been sick myself so I haven’t been watching them much the past week. I really didn’t need this right now.
CONGRATS on your first egg Tessie!
I just knew it would be here before Christmas.

Uh ho....how are they doing today?

Hi all

House is totally stripped to the bones. Would you believe that there was NO insulation in the walls at all? This is Alberta for crying out loud!
The electrician is coming on Monday, so we'll be wired and ready for the next step. Gas, heating & plumbing. Then inspections . Once they're done we can close everything in! It's looking like everything will be done by the end of January!

 WOOT!
Are you going to be moved in by January?

View attachment 1617352 Beautiful sunrise this am. Went out to feed the kids. Looks like there was a boy in the younger group. Hope no more develop drake curls! I now have two boys and four girls.

What a great photo!

STREET! You have two Streets! :love

Parvo, kick to the head, serious injury....hopefully not rabies....could have ingested anti-freeze.
I hope it was any of those things and not rabies. All of our animals (minus the chickens of course) have their rabies shots but still. I definitely didn’t sleep well last night, I spent so much time thinking about the horses, but unfortunately we can’t do much about wildlife.

They are miraculously better. :barnie Watched them for about 20 minutes and saw no sneezing, head shaking, or mucous. I have no idea what happened but I’m not gonna complain. Did they just simply eat too fast? Did they get into something nasty? No clue.

My baby niece helped me clean out the coop one last time before I move.. I really hope they’re okay when I’m gone.

They’ll be okay! And when you come back you’ll have a whole bunch more because your orps will have gone broody :gig

Give him the egg! He is starving!

Anyone have time for a little flock story?

My Bantam pullet Missy laid her first egg a little over a week ago. She’d been pulsing her bottom and acting strange and in pain for about 3 days now. She’d bury up herself and extending her leg and let out an immense amount of squawking noises. She’d always make sure to cover her vent (She wasn’t dust bathing, I know, I know). I knew she was in pain. I didn’t quite know what to do about it...

Today, I go out and she’s in the nesting box! This made he happy, would the pain be over soon?

She was still acting odd a few hours later... I knew something was up... Would this be the end of Missy? NOPE! :bun

A while later, she laid her second egg ever! :woot
It had a little blood on it, hopefully nothing to worry about! :wee :fl

Next time you can try to give her a calcium pill to see if that helps her get the egg out sooner.
