➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Just think of it this way, are Goldens really the breed that will be able to do what you want to do?

What other breeds out there might be better? Also, what do you need to have made/buy first in order to complete these dreams when you get said puppy?

I mean, honestly yeah. I’ve done a lot of research on tons of different breeds and different breeders and everything for months, even years (I’ve wanted a second dog for forever lol) and I have narrowed it down to Goldens or Aussies and I honestly think Goldens are the better fit. I have loved every one I met and they are so sweet and trainable. And especially these parents are honestly the perfect Golden for me. The description of their temperament/personality sounds amazing and their looks and size and everything as well as drive and trainability. I have researched this breeder and her dogs and she is reputable and the dogs are amazing as is the sire she is using. This is not just some random one I found on FB. She has a website too. She just also happens to have a FB page that I do follow but she is reputable and these dogs are the perfect ones for me. But I think it is the wrong time. As for other, better breeds, I really don’t think there are any cause, again, I have done a lot of research and narrowed it down to this one, and plus I have just always loved and had retrievers and retrievers mixes and have a lot of experience with them. They are amazing dogs and I could definitely handle one. I just don’t think it’s the right time now unfortunately. And I honestly wouldn’t really have to make or buy anything as we still have a ton of dog supplies leftover from Gator. I guess the only thing would be I would need smaller harnesses and collars cause Gator was huge LOL and I would need to fence in the yard or at least part of it. And/or teach an excellent recall.

No puppy KDog.
You need steady income AND your own place first.

Yeah I know but it is very tempting lol but wrong time. But also, tbh, I agree on the steady income thing, but I don’t think I necessarily need my own place. Plenty of people live at home for a while and lots still have pets. And honestly this area is one of the best for having a dog. Soooo many places to walk and swim and stuff and tons of training centers. Like it actually might be better to get a puppy here and then take it with me when I move because there are some really good training facilities here that would give the puppy an excellent start and there might not be as good or any facilities where I move to, which will hopefully be rural lol

But anyway, I think it’d be better off here with 2.46 acres and tons of safe places to walk and tons of hiking, swimming, boating, beach options, and dog sport options, rather than some apartment in the city or tiny suburban or rural house just cause I own it rather than my parents.
LOL
Sorry but I can't help but wonder what your parents think of that.
2 thoughts that come to mind
1 they are thinking you can take care of them when they become too old to take are of themselves. :old Changing "depends" on your parents is not fun I can tell ya.
2 they are wondering when you will become self sufficient and leave the nest :jumpy

Well, I wouldn’t stay here forever lol I’m just saying that a dog would not necessarily be better off in an apartment than a great area like this. But I know that Kiki did not mean it like that and meant it more like I should worry about moving out first but still. I can’t move out for a while anyway because I am trying to start my business here and need to save up more first. But I do plan to move out eventually. And honestly, they want to move to FL in a few years anyway, or so they say (they always say stuff), so they may end up giving this place to me or selling it anyway. Although I don’t really want to live here. Too expensive and too suburban (close neighbors) and people in this town are kind of rude.

I think focusing on the income part is more important too. If your parents don’t have any issue with you living with them then that’s a great way to save money. Then if they want you can start paying “rent” as practice.

Yeah, exactly. I am saving a ton of money by living here lol kind of impossible to save for a house or even just a better apartment if I was paying rent some place. My brother and FSIL have suggested a few times me moving over there (they live 2 miles away) cause it’s kind of annoying here and they have a finished, walk out basement, but I would have to pay rent whereas it is free here and basically everything I made from walking their dogs would go right back into rent so they might as well just not even pay me lol and their basement (and the whole house) is also pretty small whereas this place is huge and lots of land/private and plus I kind of feel like it’d be weird living with them even if it wasn’t really “with” them lol plus she now has her exercise bike in the basement haha it is definitely a good option living here and saving and lots of people are doing it now. It’s not the same or as easy as it used to be to just move out/buy a house. It is expensive and most people have tons of debt/can’t find jobs even with good education so a lot of people are living at home now, even until they’re like 30, so it is not that weird or odd now and my parents don’t mind so I really am not in a huge rush to move out. Now, granted, that said, I kind of am in a way because it can be stressful and they have their problems, but it’s free and free food lol I do need to start helping around the house more though and either get serious about starting my business and/or get a real job. And I am also lucky in that I don’t really have any student loan debt, which is a primary reason most young people are living at home longer, but still.
