➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I got a new tractor last week, but the excitement didn't last....
Our contractor tossed an extension cord on the floor, CJ tripped on it and now has a horizontal crack in the patella.
Ouch. :hugs:hugs:hugshugs for CJ.

Xena keeps laying in Annabelles nest so we keep trying to find which egg is hers and remove it. She's been plucking feathers and making the nest all cuddly. You can see the feathers up around her bill and stuff.

Do they pluck their bellies like chickens? I haven't looked at her. She's very skittish so I try not to handle her. It's so funny because I've noticed that she moves around on the nest almost like a clock throughout the day. One moment she's facing one way, then the other. It was a beautiful day today. We got the yard mowed. We locked the littles in their big coop for the first time tonight. They were all huddled in one of the nesting boxes, which they actually have to jump up to get in to, in the corner instead of on the roosting bars. Eh, I'm sure they'll figure it out. My hubby's birthday was a couple days ago and we got together with our daughter and her boyfriend and we went out to eat tonight. It was a nice meal. A little later than I like to eat but it's not something we do very often so it's all good. I had a couple of drinks. They were nice too. ;) It's been a good day.

Oh, my! My mom gave me a couple tiny plants. They snapped off her new one in the car, she stuck them in the dirt, they started growing, and already have little bloom pods on them. I had no idea that they spread so vigorously! Thanks for the warning! I plan on having them in the orchard where the chickens will be. Perhaps they will enjoy eating them?
Growing up, we were only able to grow pie cherries. The place we bought five years ago has a HUGE Rainier cherry tree. It's loaded every year. I'm going to graft a couple limbs onto my ornamental plum down in the field. It's healthier, and I think it'll be neat to have a bunch of pit varieties on one tree. An Italian prune graft took off really nicely this year!
I don't let the chickens in the garden...too zealous! But they do get the cooked elderberries when I make jelly. They scarf them down.
Grafting is so much fun! May have to try the cherry.

Was able to work in the garden some today before the rain. Hubby helped me set the timbers around the 16 X 20 bed. Then he brought up three more tractor scoops of good top soil for me. Because the ground is still too wet for the huge tractor, he dropped it over the garden fence.
I used the Kubota to move the dirt into the bed, made the pathways, smoothed the 4 beds and planted okra seed. Then it started to sprinkle. Gathered up my tools and ran to the house.
