➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Ah, that’s another thing. If your horses get into the chicken feed/scratch and eat a lot of it..? That’s a whole ‘nother vet cost and still leaves the chance of a severely ill horse with crippled feet, since it’s toxic to them. So they have to be separated from the chickens/chicken feed.

And I honestly have the worst sense of size, especially when it comes to pictures so unless I can be there and walk the property I can’t gauge how large it is.

That makes sense! I think I read something about that actually or maybe that was with goats? Seems to apply to horses though? Anyway, separating them wouldn’t really be a problem. I don’t really let them free range much anymore so they’re in the pen. And I don’t keep the food in the pen anymore cause the chipmunks were eating it all. So it’s inside the coop now. And the feed is stored in one of those gamma pet storage things, the plastic big with the spin lid thing, in a plastic shed thing next to the coop. So unless the horse can get inside a coop or inside the shed, it wouldn’t be able to get the feed. But that said, I probably wouldn’t even have them anywhere near the back anyway. They would probably be in that huge bowl in the front and/or up on the hill. I just included the back just cause I was trying to include everything/every possible piece of grass haha

And that’s okay!! That makes total sense. Probably hard for anyone to tell from pictures. But I’ve just always wanted to have a horse or two on there haha but it seems that is a horrible idea.

Probably broke it up a little TOO much but I guess it’s better than a massive wall of text. :lau

Idk, wasn’t really sure where to break it up (never am) so just broke it up tons of places hahah

Oh and I’m constantly browsing Petfinder/shelters too and going to look at the animals at the pet store, etc. so not only Craigslist haha I just like looking at animals.

Although I guess in reality, what I really need is a job or something cause clearly I have way too much time on my hands. :lau

Sorry, went a little crazy with the pictures as usual..... :lau

But I was just trying to make sure I got every part of it haha hard to do with just pictures but for some reason, on video mode, stupid Apple zooms wayyyy in so everything looks way closer than it really is and it’s hard to get everything in frame. So I just did pictures for proper scale haha

Anyway, gonna put it in a spoiler I guess cause there’s so many.

Also please ignore the fact that it looks like total poop right now and the mess haha there’s a lot of weeds right now that we’re just leaving for now and also my garden is a total jungle :lau  and there’s a lot of stuff around that we have to pick up. Especially the chicken/garden area which is my territory and I’ve neglected it  gonna do that. But yeah.

The lawn/property/whatever ha

Should have taken the pictures in spring when all the flowers were blooming and there was lots of rain and pretty green instead of ugliness. :lau

Oh well. Lol

Anyway, putting it in a spoiler.

Also there’s a picture of one of the chickens in there cause she was curious and also the last few are where I was thinking of putting the quailies. Obviously I would need to do a bit of cleaning up.

Sorry if these are out of order. I am sure they are since there are so many but there’s way too many to upload one by one to be sure it’s in order haha

But yeah.

Here you go.

You guys will probably think this is not big at all but it looks big to me haha

@BantyChooks @littleprairieheartsfarm

Why do you have 17 bikes?

You need a damn job. A legit one on paper with taxes taken out and a future. Come on you're wasting valuable time

I know and I am going to work on that. I admittedly haven’t at all to date and haven’t really wanted one  but I am going to start looking.

But that said, I really do think the dog/pet thing could have a future if I actually took the steps to do it right but I haven’t yet.

I know it’s not really “conventional” or anything and I do plan on getting a regular, more “conventional” job for now, but the pet industry is one of the fastest growing ones right now and, at least around here, people treat their pets like family and are willing to spend whatever it takes for the best for their “baby.” That includes dog walkers and pet sitters. As well as the best foods, toys, etc. even clothes and such.

Even FSIL has spent tons on bandanas for the dogs and cute blankets for their beds and such from a local business owner that makes pet things like that.

I bet she is making big bucks.

And there’s a lot more just like her as well as treat makers and collar and leash makers and stuff.

At the farmers markets/craft fairs/pet events around here there are always tons of pet related vendors there and they always do well.

It is insane.

Of course, I don’t want to get into making and selling anything, though I could, but still.

Even just sitters are doing extremely well atm.

Of course that could all change if the economy tanks, I am well aware of that, which is why I am going to get a regular, full time job for now, but there are people that are making a living off of this. It is fully possible these days if you do it often enough and do it right. It’s not just a job for kids anymore. It’s a real thing now.

So I plan on making it legit and actually starting a business. I’m going to get insurance and business cards and everything as well as take a CPR/pet first aid class and some of that stuff. And I am also going to work on getting certified as a professional dog trainer just in case I ever want to go that route. I already know what classes I want to take and stuff. But I might also just start out with Rover for now to get my name out there. It’s a website/app and you can hire a dog sitter or walker or whatever directly from it. They take 20% though which is why I haven’t signed up yet because getting my own insurance and doing it separately is cheaper but I am thinking I am going to sign up and just get some money coming in.

And of course get a real job for now.

:goodpost:
Maybe it won't be one you want to make a career out of. Who cares! Nobody's first job is their best. Just get an income.

I guess so but idk, I don’t really want to waste time doing some crap job I hate. I would rather just work on getting my business established and doing that. If I do that, or even just sign up for Rover for now and get even just a few more clients, I can get a decent income coming in and still have time for the chickens and garden and everything else I want to do.

But I guess I should maybe still get a regular, full time job or something and at least get out of the house and/or meet people haha

But I’m having a hard time justifying wasting my time on some shit job that I hate and am gonna quit in a few months anyway.

But I guess I’m already wasting my time currently and have wasted months or even years already so I guess it’s no different haha just that I would be being paid to waste my time. :lau

But I guess my thing is that I’ve already spent so long wasting time that I want to just make the best use of my time and really jump straight into the business thing rather than wasting more time. I’m getting pretty old. I should have gotten a job years ago and didn’t but now I kind of just want to jump straight into the business idea.

But I guess maybe I could do even just part time so I still have time for other things? Idk. I also can’t exactly just cancel/quit on all my current clients. And at least that way I’d still be bringing some money in. But idk.

I doubt they’ll even hire me. I’m pretty old now and have never had a real job before. I doubt they want people like that. Even if I am a really hard worker once I actually start working/have a task. They won’t see that.

Why do you have 17 bikes?

My mom brought those home. :lau I think we’re getting rid of most of them but idk. You should see all the other random shit she collects. :lau the garage is full haha and her room. Books, paintings, sports equipment, kids stuff even though we no longer have little kids, board games and puzzles, lamps, etc. everything lol she loves going to our local dump/transfer station because they have a free section where people take stuff (it’s amazing what people in this town get rid of. A lot of rich people haha lots of basically new stuff sometimes) and a book shed also free. As well as thrift stores like Savers, Salvation Army, Good Will, etc. she’s always getting little nick knacks and junk or vases or clothes or whatever haha

She hasn’t been in a while though but still ha

You have zero drive. Don't you want something out of life? To be somebody. You need to start building credit aswell if you want practically anything out of life. Don't sell yourself short have confidence that you can and you will. In life you get exactly what you give it's on you and only you to decide if you want to be a productive citizen or just exist

That is not true at all. Just because I don’t want to work in some crap office job for the rest of my life or be a lawyer or doctor or be famous or something doesn’t mean I have zero drive. It might not seem like it but working with animals is a perfectly legitimate profession and starting your own business is hard work. If I wanted to go nowhere, I would go get a job at McDonalds or something and stay there. But instead I’m trying to start my own business. I have wanted to work with animals my entire life ever since I was little and for me, this is a dream field. I know it seems stupid or like a dead end job to most but I love animals and honestly I’d rather be happy than being stuck doing something I hate even if it makes me way more money. That said, I think I am going to try to get more into the training side of it than just sitting/walking or boarding because that is more of a career, but I would be happy with either. And I would get plenty out of life from it. I’m sure as heck not gonna get anything from life sitting behind a desk or flipping burgers. I’d rather be happy than be a billionaire. And just because I want to work with animals doesn’t mean I’m a nobody. That’s literally ridiculous?

I have lots of goals, yeah, but they mostly stem around animals. Honestly I would be perfectly happy living in some trailer or even a tent as long as I was on plenty of land and had my animals. Not saying I’m gonna do that, I’ll probably get a real house eventually, but honestly all I really want is to have at least 10 acres, preferably closer to 20 or more, and be able to have a little homestead with various poultry and maybe goats and a nice vegetable garden and orchard. And of course a dog. I don’t need much to be happy and definitely don’t want to be rich. But I do realize that I am going to need money to pay for this which is why I’m looking for a real job somewhere where I can stay a while and save. And eventually I would probably run the boarding and training business out of the property too. I want to have my own facility eventually. I know these seem like stupid goals to you or most people but it’s what would make me happy. And I can earn a living from it. Plenty of people do. And it is a necessary field. Somebody has to do it.

My immediate goal though is to just save enough to move out of this house so I don’t get stuck here forever.

As for credit, I actually have pretty good credit right now as it is because I do have a credit card but I am working on bettering it.

And I guess that’s probably true but honestly they’re mostly hiring kids at most of these places.

And working in the pet field, or any other more obscure field for that matter, is plenty productive and necessary and way more than just existing.

That said, I will admit that, yes, I am on here or otherwise on the phone most of the time currently or driving around that’s definitely a problem and I can easily see how that could be taken as zero drive cause yeah, currently, I kinda do, but that’s only because I’ve been in a bit of a funk a while, which I am now actively working to get out of. Doesn’t mean I have no drive. Just can’t access atm. But I am working on it and have been way more productive lately and am actively working on bettering myself so the job search/business starting is next. After finally doing all the stuff I have to do around here first.
