Vegetarian tacos can be delicious. We often do chili-spiced, roasted sweet potato and black bean tacos. Top them with a cabbage, lime, and green onion slaw. Add some avocado. Perfection.

Also why is it weird to season your food?! Salt is kind of an important ingredient.
Salt is mandatory in this house. Food pretty much tastes like nothing without it.

That actually does sound really good. :lau

Is it spicy?

And :lau its not! The other ingredients are weird though lol

But also, I’ve just never put salt on my tacos. Idk. The shell and the taco seasoning we add is usually already salty enough (often too much so) so I’ve just never added it.

:lau touché.

I add salt to other foods, probably too much haha I like salt. Just never added it to tacos before. Never added pepper either.

Make turmeric rice. It's delicious.

This whole recipe is rad, but I make the rice portion only most.

Thanks! I’ll try that! That sound really good.

The proper amount of salt causes all the other flavors to release.

Yes and yes! It is a waste of time and ingredients to not properly season your food :barnie

Exactly. Without it, food is bland and flavorless.

We’re not total weirdos!! We do salt and pepper our food! But I’ve just never added it to tacos before because they’re usually plenty salty enough without it.

And tbh salt and pepper is basically the extent of my seasoning. :lau

We have a whole cabinet full of spices but I rarely use them. My dad will sometimes but we don’t really use much hah

Garlic, onion, salt, pepper is basically it. :lau

Oh heck yeah! I have a very similar recipe from a favorite cookbook. It is amazing!

Such a fantastic flavor profile. Delicious!

Seems I am going to have to try it!!!

If you use a commercial chili powder blend like from McCormick or something it ends up more smoky than spicy. We usually add some extra spice though. Here is a recipe if you are interested.

If you are using “taco seasoning” and hard shells then there is lots of salt in both. If you are scratch cooking (like roasting veggies and making a slaw) you need to add salt to make the flavors pop. The salt and lime also tenderize the cabbage in the slaw.
