➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

We have been calling her Orchid. Terribly unoriginal but I think it's already stuck lol.
Right now she's eating fruit flies but when she's full grown she will be able to eat butterflies, moths, etc.
She's so cute. I would kill for this insect. 😂
I think they are waiting to announce the confirmed case at your school tomorrow.
That's what my news said this morning.

They really are so beautiful. :love Will it develop more color as it gets older is it just white? That may be a dumb question and I have debated just leaving it out but... eh... I'm gonna ask it lol.
Not a stupid question. 🥰
They differ as individuals, but she will get more pink as she gets bigger. Lighting and humidity also affects the colour but I'm not exactly sure how.
I'd get so sad when one passes away. They're gorgeous though!
I know, me too. She's precious.
I've always wanted to have an orchid mantis.

I definitely really like them! We get mantis here in our garden and I love them.

Testing.

Does anyone here have trouble using the 'quote' option?
No problem quoting here....same procedure as it was before the recent updates.

Most all are culled and the rest go on to keep the family going and/or to be shown. At the end of fall I'll only have one or two out of mine of each breed that I've bred to keep the family going so that's 3or4 birds kept out of 36 or so hatched. People I breed for they take the chicks at a day old I'll keep a few if it a breed I'd like to keep for a while. It appears to be alot but it's not for the most part each bird is/has to be individually penned. Actually I keep way less than most who keep layers. If layers were individually penned it would look like its alot more

Nice not to carry over 50 to 100 from each pen. Good article on the gamefowl.
Does Hatch represent a breeder within the ranks of gamefowl breeders?

With the days starting to get longer and my older girls finishing with their moult, egg production is starting to pick back up. I showed y'all a pic of my Buff Orpington almost being a NN and she is already done with her moult and has been laying again. I got an egg yesterday from my Black Copper Maran for the first time in a few months. And I was surprised with an egg from one of my EE's today and she hadn't laid in a few months as well. It'll be eggsplosion time around here before I know it! :celebrate
