Where the hens were fighting over the nest yesterday, I tossed another fake egg about 3 feet away. Now there are two hens sitting on two different nests to lay their eggs today.

Sweetgrass poult #5 has arrived. It was fully zipped when I went to get the brooder ready. It is out now and not even close to the egg it hatched from. The brooder is heating up and drying out the fresh sand now.

Do you have whip-poor-wills in Wyoming? They sing at night here and it's one of my favourites. I've always wanted to find one but never been able to spot them.

I remember the Whip-poor-wills from growing up in PA. Here we have Nighthawks instead.

We still have Nighthawks but the whippoorwill seems to be gone
