I needed to get the poults out of the brooder so I let the Blue Slate hen and her 5 three week old poults out of the grow out pen. After I got the poults out of the brooder, I found out she was out beating up on another hen. During the fight, I took the three week old poults and put them in with the others in the grow out pen.

Later the hen was fussing wanting her adoptees back and keeping all of the chickens out of the coop. I let her back into the grow out pen and everything finally calmed down. She now has 28 adoptees instead of 5.

What are the black poults with white faces?

I feel I should know the answer, but I only admire turkeys from afar, we have only ever raised one hen (mixed breed), whom DH named Lurkey, and when she got big I gave her to a friend of mine. She was neat.

I feel I should know the answer, but I only admire turkeys from afar, we have only ever raised one hen (mixed breed), whom DH named Lurkey, and when she got big I gave her to a friend of mine. She was neat.

The black poults are Tri-Color Mottled Blacks. At this age they look very much like any other Black based turkey. As they age and get their adult feathers, they will develop the white mottling and the brown accents.
