➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

That’s why we’re here to remind you ;)

What’s the best way to quickly fill up a huge run with deep litter materials? Do I seriously have to rake up dozens of wheelbarrows of leaves around the property or is there a better way

It's almost worth a $7 bale of straw or pine shavings at that point to get your started. I wish I could do deep litter, I feel that that required a commitment to buying a lawn mower and mowing the lawn :gig

I'd be happy to ship you all of our leaves come fall. Ugh! :thI can deep litter about 5 coops with the mess around here.

Guess I better start raking. I have no idea how long it’ll take to build up a 20x60 ft area.

There are leaves, pine needles, and cut grass piles after mowing around the property, I just don’t know how to transport them efficiently over 40 acres by myself.

ETA: nothing is actually piled. That would be too easy. I’m going to have to rake up piles of stuff and somehow wheelbarrow it to the run...

For some reason, the leghorns are the only ones in my mind that say chicken because of the straight up tail feathers. The BR and reds have the more delicate tails. What else has the leghorn tails?

You mean like 'squirrel tail'?

My brother wants me to go look now bc 2 of 5 are out on the ground. I'm afraid to go look in case they need care... Anybody know about baby wild rabbits? Please tell me they look old enough to feed themselves.

Go buy one or two bales of hay too.
The Northerners have straw and hay.
I still haven't figured out the difference.
We buy what we call hay down here.
I have been using it..plus lawn clipping for two years and it works perfectly.

I go to town on garbage day in the truck in the fall and collect bags of leaves ..... less work
