So do you raise rabbits for meat or other reasons?
And why do people raise pigeons?
Social/cultural/regional differences make it hard for me to understand why anyone would raise rabbits or pigeons, just trying to understand. I figured I'd go straight to the source here and ask.
We raise them for meat, as well as sell them to people as pets.
We bought out a small rabbit farm a couple months ago with about 29 rabbits, sold some at auction, sold some as pets locally, kept some. This one who's had 2 litters now was actually a free bunny the fiance's friend gave us - because it was "infertile". They also gave us 3 free hutches they had which helped a lot, though we also have other rabbit pens too.
We mostly have New Zealands (meat/pets), and traded a pair of Californians for a pair of Jersey Wooly/Angoras (pets) a couple weeks ago. Going to pick up a pair of silver fox rabbits in the next couple weeks.
We actually had roasted rabbit in white wine with potatoes, garlic, & red onion for dinner last night. Had injected it with a garlic herb marinade the night before also.
