➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

View attachment 1420335 Oh my gosh, Mr. Ruger just caught a prairie dog again, but it got away so now we are waiting by the hole.
:love
I love the fact his name is Ruger (like my pup), and even more that he's a black kitty, because I had 2 black kitties for 9 years til they both passed late last year (one had kidney failure (Neko, laying down), the other had a fast-growing sudden nasal tumor 2 months later (Nero, standing, with a triangular pupil he had his whole life). I miss those sweet boys so much.

Well my husband has a soft spot for black kitties so I figured if I was going to bring home a cat he would be less likely to be mad if it was an all black one :gig

The first chickie hatchedddd!!! :jumpy:wee Fiance just texted me to tell me one chick is out and chirping away and moving around in there, and another is making its way out now. Of course they do it when I'm at work. I knew that was going to happen . Today was hatch day according to Hatch-a-batch app, day 21 was to start at 10pm.

Yesterday he told our friend that he didn't think anything was going to hatch, kinda like me thinking if it didn't stay -exactly- at 99.5 all the time it'd get messed up, and semi-winging humidity with fluctuating levels at times, and it being a no-name Jet.com $80 incubator ... she asked if we candled before lockdown, said we kept the ones that looked completely filled by a chick, anything we could see through/looked like floating yolk/embryo got removed. She said not to be discouraged, and she never pays attention to her humidity in the GQF1502 she has, just makes sure there is water in it, and has hatched turkeys, chicks, emu, quail, peachicks, and ducklings fine. And 22 hours after that chat, an early hatcher has arrived and it's friends are following suit :celebrate think we have 6 or 7 eggs in this batch now, and batch #2 that is in there is due next Wednesday :)

Woot! Leave work now! Go check on the babies!!
I actually left work early yesterday (just after 1) so now I have an excruciating 50 minutes (orrrr 45, my office mate and I slip out around 4:55) plus 45-60 minute drive ahead.

Makes me miss my job in the environmental lab I worked at for 6 years (probably still would be there if it wasn't for a huge company downsize in 2012, I was 1 of almost 75 that got laid off)... could semi-make my own hours/shifts, and as long as I worked 6 hours a day and got my stuff done by deadline, I could leave and go home and still get paid a full day ...

Good morning, & TGIF!

Got to watch one of the chicklets hatch yesterday before bed. Just happened to look in the incubator before shutting off the light and saw one 1/3 out, then burst out of the rest of the shell. The other one was so excited to have a friend lol. Looks like one externally pipped but didn't see any additional movement from in the hours before bed. This morning, I woke up to 4 chicklets wreaking havoc and peeping away. Counted and there are 9 eggs, 1 was iffy that we left in there, so we're halfway through. Hopefully when I get home they'll be doubled from this morning :jumpy Hard to get a picture through that incubator (if I'd had my actual flashlight, may have worked better - couldn't find it of course) - on the right was first hatcher, then in front of it is the other one hatching last night. :love
