➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

He is a Calico. The difference between a Calico and a Sweetgrass is that a Calico has a hidden Narragansett color gene and a not so hidden red color gene while a sweetgrass has neither of those genes. A Calico will not breed true because of the heterozygous red gene (Rr) but a Sweetgrass can be homozygous in all of its color genes and can breed true.
Thank You
I think the people in porter's FB group were having an off day when I posted it last fall..

What ever he is, IF my hen is a Bronze, and IF him or the supposed to be nari bred her.... according to porter's calculator I shouldn't be getting poults that are yellow and developing white w/ black and reddish. So I think I have hidden genes in the hen for sure.
The hen and this tom are probably related. I was given 3 poults. The person said she was told the eggs she hatched could be bronze, saw palm or bourbon red.... the other poult I had was red bronze, a jake.

Hahaha! I do like realism, I find nailing the anatomy and structure very satisfying. In that sense I don’t want to branch out, but I’m also a sucker for the spooky and creepy.

One of the few times I managed to accurately transfer creative thought to paper.. I think I want to go more in this realistic unnatural direction.

Seems like a good mix of both worlds.. hmm.
But here I am screwing with goofy cartoon looking ink and watercolor.. yeesh. I think I just realized where I took a wrong art direction.
huh.
OOOOOOhhhhhh, love this! Very cool and just a wee bit creepy.

Goodnight! I’m off too.

Gotta go rethink my entire creative direction now lol. Midnight revelations with Conan.

Hah!!! I'm glad we discussed this - I know I have some things to address as well. Thinking of where I want that tentacle interaction you mentioned. Definitely the inspiration I needed.

Love your style!!

It's the same deal for me. I've seen others do this too. My theory is that realism is needed until you build up enough of a mental 'library' of proportions and shading on things. Then, once you learn the rules, you can break them with style.

Just a theory, of course. I know some peeps go straight into abstract. Realism is still my first love. :caf
Yes! Thank you for putting this into words!
Your rooster pics are amazing. I love the crowing silhouette on the roof (?)
Incredible.
