Thank YouHe is a Calico. The difference between a Calico and a Sweetgrass is that a Calico has a hidden Narragansett color gene and a not so hidden red color gene while a sweetgrass has neither of those genes. A Calico will not breed true because of the heterozygous red gene (Rr) but a Sweetgrass can be homozygous in all of its color genes and can breed true.
I think the people in porter's FB group were having an off day when I posted it last fall..
What ever he is, IF my hen is a Bronze, and IF him or the supposed to be nari bred her.... according to porter's calculator I shouldn't be getting poults that are yellow and developing white w/ black and reddish. So I think I have hidden genes in the hen for sure.
The hen and this tom are probably related. I was given 3 poults. The person said she was told the eggs she hatched could be bronze, saw palm or bourbon red.... the other poult I had was red bronze, a jake.
