Hydrogen Peroxide shouldn't turn light brown hair orange.
When I used it before it just lightened my hair to slightly lighter than dirty blonde.

I just know that blonde hair can turn orangey so I assumed brown hair can too.

Mine always turns orangey, at least the first bleach-around. I usually just mix Joico Indigo dye into my conditioner. Tones it nicely.
Sometimes, the French wash works better (half bleach/developer and half shampoo). Least it doesn't torch your hair like straight bleach or peroxide.

Back in the day, I used Sun In. My hair bleached out like crazy.

Sun in is literally what I used.

Brassy is definitely the right term! My hair is medium brown and it gets brassy every single time I lighten.

Brassy is definitely the right term! My hair is medium brown and it gets brassy every single time I lighten.

The real salon has some magically stuff that tones it perfectly.
I look back at some of my pictures and think to myself what the heck was I doing to myself back then.
