➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I was getting some shell less eggs, some whole some that had broken, as well. I don't know which pullet was having the problem. I have a bowl out of oyster shell out for them at all times but what I decided to do was put out a 2nd bowl. Just to rule out any possibility that maybe they were being run off from or just not getting enough for whatever reason of oyster shell. So far, I have 1 pullet that is laying eggs with some calcium buildup on her eggs and all of the rest are coming out solid so far. Haven't had any more soft or shell less eggs. Not sure of your setup but thought I'd share an easy fix that so far is working for me.
This hen is one of our top hens, she is usually the one doing the running off, I just don’t think she’s actually eating the available supplies. I’ll see how the calcium supplement helps her and if it doesn’t give her any better shells then it’s definitely a reproductive issue, which is possible.

Ohhh, ok. So it’s possible that it’s more than a new laying pullet issue. I hope the supplements help!

Well, an update on my quackers. I got my hubby to help me and I lifted up the 3 Pekin individually. My hubby asked me why I wanted to pick up Gomer since we already know he’s a boy? I said so we have a Pekin male quack to go off of in determining if the others are different or the same. My Pekin are weird! After countless of YouTube videos of ducks quacking, mine just sound different. Their quacks aren’t loud or like foghorns. They are quieter and deep voiced. But they are quacks. Gomer’s, while deep in voice, has a whisperish quality to it. It’s different. So I really think that Goober and Forrest are girls. We didn’t do video. Maybe I will at some other time. Idk. In my researching on my ducks, I don’t even know if they are truly Pekin. More like a cross breed. There is a different line that is similar to Pekin but they come out of England I think? Aylesbury is what it’s called. I think that it’s probably in the breeding line somewhere. I say that because they are known to have the bleached pale bills, which mine have. Or maybe them being hatchery ducks has something to do with it. So maybe it has something to do with their voices as well? Idk. They are loved and spoiled. I like to think that getting “quiet” (such as they are) ducks makes me lucky.

Do you know what hatchery they came from?

FSIL posted the first one and sent the text and pictures the other day and the other ones I think are from last night. Was gonna block out the faces and location but blacking out faces kinda ruins that particular picture and that region is huge so ya. Did block names and numbers though. Posting all full size cause there's a couple that have to be (ones with writing) and to me it looks weird to have some full size and some not. Apologies in advance.

:love:love:love What is this place? I love it!

So...
On my front porch I have wooden Halloween pumpkins, ghost and a witch. They tend to fall over when it's windy. Last night, no wind. Chef and I are watching tv and we hear the figures falling over. After #2 went over, I had to go see what the issue was. Turned on the porch light and ..... :eek:

Now, what you don't see is what raccoon # 1 is looking at...and that's a nasty opossum that wants the food bowl in front of raccoon #1. The food bowl is actually for the neighbor cats and now explains why I am constantly going through cat food. Ahem.
:eek::eek: Oh my.
No more feeding the neighbor cat!

I got them at TractorSupply and they go through Hoover’s Hatchery. And I’m now out here sitting with them. They keep coming over and trying to nibble on me. My shoe, socks, pant legs, my hoodie. Doesn’t matter. Lol They are so fricking adorable! But now I am seeing a suspicious feather on Goober. Ugh! Maybe I’m just trying to kid myself. :he :barnie :hit
I’ll give it a little more time I guess.
