I would not rehome birds i suspected might be carrying something

This is why the feds go in and wipe out everyone's flock in a 50 mile radius when a disease is found that they worry about. People can't be trusted to do the right thing. Typhoid Mary also comes to mind.
Well they must not care about Marek's because I've notified my state.

I should, but I won't.
Everyone else around here who knows they have Marek's and other diseases do not have closed flocks.
And since it is ubiquitous and spread in measures beyond human control, I deem it pointless to close my flock since it won't stop the problem.

I can rehome birds. Plenty of people do.
You can't possibly make me believe that everyone in my situation or worse doesn't have birds leave their property or flock.

So if everybody else jumped off a bridge, would you? Just because other people do it and/or don't care doesn't mean you have to. Be better.

The roosters should probably just be culled rather than rehomed. Or put in a separate pen.

Jumping off a bridge is not on the same level as Marek's.

Jumping off a bridge is not on the same level as Marek's.

It's the same concept. You are saying that just because everyone else is rehoming sick birds that means that it's okay. But it's not. The rest of your flock isn't sick because they've probably built up an immunity by now but if you rehome them to someone else, someone who's birds don't have an immunity, they might start showing symptoms or the rest of their flock might. They can still be carriers without being sick themselves. It's wrong.

And yeah, maybe it's not the exact same thing as jumping off a bridge, but it IS the same concept because it's about morals and principals and right from wrong, all that. You shouldn't just be a follower and do what everyone else is doing just because it's easier or you don't care or whatever. It's okay to be different and go against the norm, and in this case you should. What if murder or animal abuse was legal and other people started doing that? Would you start doing that too? I would hope not. And yes, I know that rehoming sick birds is nowhere near the level of murder and I'm sure you would never murder anyone or abuse animals (or people) but my point with that is that just because the whole world has lost their moral compass and/or starts going crazy doesn't mean that you have to. I'd rather be the one person standing up against something that's wrong/speaking up than just going with it just because.

It's not even just about the birds at this point. Look, I know that you're young and maybe not caring is cool right now or maybe your parents or neighbors or something have these attitudes but that doesn't mean that you have to. And you should care about stuff. Again, not just about the birds at this point. You're young and I care (and I'm sure Kiki and the others do too even though they say they don't/are done and upset right now) and I don't want to see you go down this "I hate everything and don't care about anything" path because that's not a good path. I know it's hard to be different living at home but you're going away to school eventually right? Maybe your world view will broaden a bit at school.

Much love to ya KDogg.

These are the words I needed to hear.
You are right, I am leaving soon. So I will just leave these birds on my property. Besides, I have the guts to cull if needed.

I hope, too, that my views change when I leave my home. I do actually intend to run a very biosecure property in the future.

Thanks for talking to me in a reasonable way.

Thanks, love ya too Kiki! Just trying to get through to Cy and I kinda went on a tangent aha I don't wanna just completely disown em though, I know they're still young and maybe changeable and young people make a lot of mistakes. I know I sure did.
