Your second link is false. That is the regular egg color for Coturnix eggs.

Wait it is? Then why would they say it's rare? That stinks if they lied but i guess it's good in a way if most lay that color cause I want that color kind of.

But that said, most quail eggs I have seen are brown speckled not blue????

Doing some more research and everything I'm reading seems to suggest that celadon is a rare color? Is that not true? Is celadon even real? Maybe it is just that those particular eggs are not celadon? They do look kind of olivey or white instead. What about these ones instead? They are much more blue.

Celadon is not common. The inner shell on regular eggs is commonly blue, but the outer shell is usually tan or cream, with spots or speckles. Celadon has the outer shell blue with spots/speckles. I believe it is recessive and not all chicks hatched from a Celadon egg will lay Celadon eggs themselves.

Thanks, this is a really good explanation and much more clear than some of what I have read. That is what I thought; most eggs I have seen have been kind of a tan or brown color. I think I read that if the inner shell is blue, it can mean they carry Celadon? Is that true? Hopefully if I got Celadon chicks, at least some would lay Celadon ha

I kind of want to order the 50 over the 25 so I can get 20 different feather colors instead of only 6 and then also add some Celadon so I can get blue eggs and then... I think I am going crazy with the quail addiction before I even have quail..... should probably slow down

Probably should maybe just start with a few basic quail, like brown or something, but I really like variety and different colors, which is why I want to order the colorful ones. I am getting a little carried away

I don't know if that is an indicator or not, none of mine lay Celadon but some do have the blue inner shell. I believe James Marie Farms sells them in addition to other folks, but have to call not just order on his website.

I'm really tempted to get Celadon eggs myself.

It would be interesting to see if that was want indicator. From what I read, it can mean they carry the gene but don’t necessarily lay Celadon but if you breed them, they might produce a Celadon? And yeah, the blue with the speckles is really pretty so I am definitely seriously tempted too lol

I was on my way home from a PT appointment when this happened. Hubby is working from home today and my son was home. We never let the dogs outside without a leash on except in their fenced in area. Hubby came out to run the goats out of our yard. Yelled for our son to come out and help. My son walks out the back door and before it fully shut, the dogs came bolting out of the house. They've NEVER done this before. But instead of attacking the goats.... they rounded them up? They didn't really know what to do once they had them all together, as in running them door the driveway back towards their home. They just kept circling them to keep them contained. The video isn't very great but it's a recording of the playback recording on my computer. The split shot is the view from the camera of our driveway and the camera from our front yard. Then I just double-clicked on the driveway shot so it went bigger since they were just in that frame. Got them trotting back home and the dogs nabbed, secured and back in the house. I was so scared that if my dogs ever got out when they were down here that they would end up attacking them. Especially my pit/lab mix, Maggie. Buster is a lab/pyrenees mix. My dogs bark a mean game from inside the house. And one time at night, something was out around the house because Maggie was going nuts. Hubby put Maggie on the leash and went to investigate. He turned the corner of the house and WHAM! Maggie snatched something in her jaws. Turned out to be an opossum. This could've ended bad. Instead, is it weird to say that I am kind of proud and impressed by my dogs? I never would have thought they could be herder dogs. Needless to say, hubby had ANOTHER talk with our neighbors.

That's amazing! It sucks that the goats are on your land again, but what a wonderful discovery. It's so cool that your dogs automatically rounded them up and that you got it all on video.
